Pump Station Refurbishments
CPC Civils programme managed the QRA Safety Scheme and small works programme in 2013. This would involve visiting all pumping stations across the Severn Trent Water (STW) network to create a safe working area within each. Our team would achieve this by eliminating slips, trips and falls; replacing unfit access covers, and renewing mechanical and engineering systems.
In addition to this the team would create effective and efficient access areas for maintenance lorries and pump trucks, and finally replace gantry systems deemed unfit for purpose.
CPC Civils scoped over 280 separate sites across the STW region as part of the contract.
A scoping visit would be completed between the works Area Manager (Amey PLC) and Project Manager (STW).
Following each visit, CPC Civils produced a designed scheme which was presented to STW. The scheme outlined actions to be taken to eliminate all issues and risks identified by CPC Civils at each site visit, and would enable agreement of a final cost projection for the works.
CPC Civils managed up to five separate civils gangs. Each team would work remotely from mobile welfare units, delivering a variety of schemes. Scheme locations ranged from public parks, main road adjacent sites and sites within the locality of treatment works.
In conjunction with managing the civils element of the programme, CPC Civils also project managed individual schemes, including:
CPC Civils employed the following contractors on the QRA Safety Scheme: WJW Engineering (steelwork fabrication); PJT Engineering (mechanical and engineering installation); T.Allen Engineering (gantry systems).
CPC Civils and Amey PLC won a Bronze Award at the 2014 Star Awards for this scheme. |
