Lower Don Valley Flood Defence was a scheme in the centre of Sheffield.
The scheme would involve increasing the existing flood defence height to ensure protection for up to 1 in 100-year flooding.
The project would involve constructing 140m of reinforced concrete walls and footings, cladding works in accordance with planning permissions. Also, increasing the height of the 110-meter-long existing wall by 3 courses.
The project would present many complications. To ensure its successful delivery and critical to the success of the scheme, liaison with all stakeholders would be essential.
To ensure protection of the environment and local businesses CPC Civils would install 155m of temporary flood defences on Nursery Street. Our teams would achieve this using a Duo Block system. Not only would this ensure their protection, but it would also minimise any disruption during the construction phase.
Furthermore, the team would use ‘Bio Oil’ to fuel all plant in use on the project.
In line with the client’s core values, the core workforce employed to undertake the project were based in Sheffield.
To further facilitate and support this, a satellite office was set up in Sheffield. We are proud to confirm that this has now become a permanent CPC Civils office.
